Are your doctors board-certified—and why does that matter?
Yes. Our orthodontists and pediatric dentists include board-certified specialists (ABO for orthodontics, ABPD for pediatric dentistry). Board certification is voluntary and requires advanced training, rigorous exams, and ongoing standards—so your child receives expert care focused on safety, comfort, healthy development, and long-term results.
When should my child have their first dental visit?
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a child’s first dental visit by age one or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits help prevent cavities, monitor growth and development, and build comfort with a pediatric dentist in a gentle, child-friendly setting.
Do you accept dental insurance?
Yes. We accept many dental insurance plans, and we’re happy to verify benefits before your visit. For the most up-to-date list of in-network plans (including orthodontic coverage) and details on payment options, please visit our Insurance & Financing page.
How often should children visit the dentist?
Most children benefit from a checkup and cleaning every six months. Some may need more frequent visits depending on their dental development or individual risk factors.
How do you help children who are anxious or afraid of the dentist?
Our team is highly experienced in caring for anxious children, sensitive children, and those with special needs. We use a gentle, slow-paced approach built around trust and comfort. To help little ones feel safe, we offer iPads above our treatment chairs, soft weighted blankets, The SleeperOne system for more comfortable local anesthetic delivery, and laughing gas when appropriate. For children who need additional support, we also offer in-office IV sedation in partnership with Pediatric Anesthesiologists. Many of our patients benefit from desensitization visits, positive reinforcement, and a child-centered communication style that helps them feel understood and in control throughout their appointment.
What should I do if my child has a dental emergency?
Call our office right away. As a pediatric dental practice, we handle toothaches, broken teeth, trauma, swelling, and other urgent dental concerns for children, and we do our best to offer same-day appointments when possible to relieve discomfort and protect your child’s smile.
For after-hours issues, our voicemail will guide you to the right place based on whether the emergency is dental or orthodontic. Dental emergencies are routed to Dr. Lindsay (or the on-call pediatric dentist), and orthodontic emergencies are routed to our partnered orthodontic team. In some situations, we may ask you to send a photo so we can better understand what’s happening. Whatever the scenario, we’ll follow up with a phone call to talk through what’s going on and help you decide the best next step for your child.
What is the benefit of having pediatric dentistry and orthodontics under one roof?
Having pediatric dentistry and orthodontics under one roof makes care simpler, more coordinated, and more comfortable for families. Your child can get routine cleanings, preventive care, growth monitoring, and orthodontic evaluations in one place—often with fewer appointments and less back-and-forth between offices.
It also improves treatment planning. When pediatric dentists and orthodontists work together, they can catch issues earlier (like crowding, bite problems, or airway-related growth concerns), time treatment more effectively, and create a plan that supports both healthy development and a stable bite long term. For parents, that means clearer guidance, smoother scheduling, and a team that communicates closely throughout every stage of your child’s smile.
Do you offer new-patient specials for patients without insurance?
Yes. For families without dental insurance, we offer a $99 New Patient Special that includes a cleaning (prophy), comprehensive exam, fluoride treatment, two bitewing X-rays, and maxillary/mandibular anterior PAs—an affordable, complete start to your child’s dental care.
